New Orleans = Gomorrah?

I've been waiting on The Right Reverend Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell to claim it was God's wrath that washed away the city of New Orleans, our latter-day Gomorrah.

You'll recall Falwell said that the 9/11 attacks were God's jugment on a sinful America. The backlash was so ugly that Falwell quickly retreated.

Here is what how a visitor to Robertson's CBN.com web site, a writer who calls himself El-Elyon, explained Katrina: "I believe God is using all these natural disasters as forms of judgment to get our attention. Our country alone is Godless. We took the Ten Commandments away from public places, took prayer out of schools, that horrible ACLU wants poligamy legalized, etc. So yes God does allow these storms of destruction, it's His way to get our attention."

To be fair, this is not Robertson speaking. But this type of thinking is the product of RRR's brand of religion.
